#1 Play Scrabble in Your New Language
Playing Scrabble is a great way to build your vocabulary.  It will also help you recognize letter patterns and of course help your spelling.  I’ve been learning German for just over 5 months in an intensive German class and I find I need to tweak the rules a bit to have any chance of playing.  I play with a dictionary, which my German friends are not allowed to use.  If that’s still too difficult, you could also negotiate having an extra letter or two.  Playing Scrabble in German is more difficult than I had anticipated, but it is fun and a good challenge. Management time: Who’s got the monkey?

conan_4credThe article “Who has got the monkey?” was published in Harward Business Review in 1999. Managers are snowed under work while their subordinates are only waiting for orders, initiatives and advice from them. Most managers carry monkeys, that is responsibilities of their own tasks and tasks of their subordinates, thinking they are helping them. In this way managers cannot complete any task in a timely and effective manner. The article calls managers to train their subordinates beforehands and direct assign responsibility (monkeys) to them, for better time management.

Thor Heyerdahl: Scandinavians came from Azerbaijan

According to Thor Heyerdahl the Norwegian mythology tells that the Scandinavian god Odin moved with his people to Norway from a land called Aser, in order to avoid Roman occupation. A 13th-century historian’s description of Aser’s origination matches that of Azerbaijan: east of the Caucasus mountains and the Black Sea.
Heyerdahl and other scholar are convinced that people living in the area now known as Azerbaijan settled in Scandinavia around 100 AD. Roman troops arrived in Azerbaijan in 97 AD.
