The article “Who has got the monkey?” was published in Harward Business Review in 1999. Managers are snowed under work while their subordinates are only waiting for orders, initiatives and advice from them. Most managers carry monkeys, that is responsibilities of their own tasks and tasks of their subordinates, thinking they are helping them. In this way managers cannot complete any task in a timely and effective manner. The article calls managers to train their subordinates beforehands and direct assign responsibility (monkeys) to them, for better time management.
